Best Time to Visit
-
October to March (Winter): The most popular time. The weather is crisp (dropping to 4°C) and perfect for trekking.
-
July to September (Monsoon): The "greenest" phase. Waterfalls are at their peak, though some forest trails may be restricted for safety.
-
April to June (Summer): A cool refuge from the blistering heat of the central Indian plains, with temperatures rarely crossing 35°C.
Quick Travel Tip: Because much of the town is a Cantonment area and part of a Tiger Reserve, development is strictly controlled. This has preserved its "old-world" charm and kept it much quieter than commercialized hill stations like Shimla or Manali.
