Strategic Tips for Your Trip
-
The Food Trail: While in Indore, don’t miss Chappan Dukan by day and Sarafa Bazaar by night. It’s a culinary rite of passage.
-
Temple Logistics: At Ujjain, try to book your Bhasm Aarti online well in advance, as slots fill up weeks earlier.
-
The Jungle Gear: Kanha can be surprisingly cold in the early morning (even in March) and dusty. Bring layers and a light scarf/buff.
-
Pachmarhi Transport: You cannot use your own car for most sightseeing inside the Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve; you’ll need to hire a registered local 4x4 Gypsy.
-
UNESCO Stops: On Day 6, the drive from Bhopal to Pachmarhi passes right by Bhimbetka. It is essential to stop here for the Paleolithic cave paintings—it's one of the oldest human records on Earth.
Best Time to Visit
The ideal window is October to March. National Parks (Kanha) are closed during the monsoon (July–September), and the Malwa region (Indore/Ujjain) can get quite hot in April–June.
