Indore is the largest city in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The city is located at an altitude of 553 m above sea level on the Malwa Plateau on the banks of the River Khan and Saraswati. The two rivers merge at the city Centre where a small temple of Indreshwar is located. From the revered deity the city derived its name.
