Day 1: Arrival & The Marble Rocks of Jabalpur

Morning: Arrive at Jabalpur (Airport/Railway Station). Check into your hotel.

Afternoon: Head to Bhedaghat (25 km from city). Take a boat ride through the Marble Rocks—towering magnesium limestone cliffs that change color under the sun.

Late Afternoon: Visit Dhuandhar Falls, where the Narmada River plunges into a misty gorge. You can take the ropeway here for a panoramic view.

Evening: Stop by the Chausath Yogini Temple (10th-century temple with 64 shrines) or witness the Narmada Aarti at Gwarighat for a spiritual end to the day.

Stay: Jabalpur.
Day 2: Jabalpur Sightseeing & Drive to Kanha

Morning: Visit the Madan Mahal Fort and the nearby Balancing Rock, a geological quirk where a massive boulder rests on another.

Noon: Depart for Kanha National Park (approx. 165 km / 4-hour drive).

Evening: Reach your resort near the Khatia or Mukki gate. Enjoy a quiet evening by a bonfire or a short nature walk around the buffer zone.

Day 3 & 4: Deep into the Jungle (Kanha Safaris)

Morning Safaris (6:00 AM – 11:00 AM): These are the best times for tiger sightings and birdwatching. Ensure you visit the Kanha Zone (famous for open meadows) and Mukki Zone.

Mid-Day: Relax at the resort, visit the Kanha Museum, or interact with the local Baiga tribes to learn about their unique tattoos and culture.

Afternoon Safaris (3:30 PM – Sunset): Track the "Jewel of Kanha"—the Barasingha (Swamp Deer)—which was saved from extinction here.

Day 5: Final Safari & Departure

Book permits 60–90 days in advance via the MP Online portal. They sell out fast!
Connectivity
Jabalpur has the nearest airport (JLR). The drive to Kanha is smooth on well-maintained roads.
Closures
Kanha is closed every Wednesday afternoon for safaris and completely closed during the monsoon (July–September).
What to Pack
Sunscreen and hats for afternoons; heavy woolens if visiting between December and February.
Pro Tip: Try to book different zones (Kanha, Kisli, Mukki, Sarhi) for each of your safaris to experience the varying landscapes of the park, from dense Sal forests to sprawling bamboo thickets.
