📅 Itinerary Overview
Day 1: Arrival & The High Point

  • Morning: Arrive at Pipariya Railway Station (the nearest railhead) and transfer to Pachmarhi (approx. 1.5 hours).

  • Afternoon: After checking into your hotel, head to the Pandav Caves. These five 6th-century rock-cut caves are where the Pandava brothers allegedly stayed during their exile.

  • Evening: Witness a spectacular sunset at Dhoopgarh, the highest point in Madhya Pradesh ($1,350$ meters). The 360-degree view of the Satpura range is the highlight of the trip.

  • Night: Stroll through the local Pachmarhi market and enjoy some Bhutte ki Kees (local corn snack).

Day 2: Waterfalls & Mystical Caves (Full Day Gypsy Tour)

  • Morning: Start early for Bee Falls (Jamuna Prapat). It’s a 35-meter-high cascade where you can take a refreshing dip in the natural pools.

  • Mid-Day: Visit Reechgarh, a massive natural amphitheater-like rock formation, followed by Eco Point and the Handi Khoh ravine, a 300-foot deep canyon.

  • Afternoon: Explore the spiritual side at Jatashankar Caves. These are natural limestone caves where stalactites resemble the matted hair of Lord Shiva.

  • Evening: Relax by Pachmarhi Lake or visit the Bison Lodge Museum to learn about the region's rich flora and fauna.

Day 3: Heritage & Departure

  • Morning: Visit Gupt Mahadev (a narrow 40-foot long cave temple) and the Bada Mahadev temple. If you're feeling adventurous, you can see the Priyadarshini Point (the spot where Pachmarhi was discovered by Captain Forsyth in 1857).

  • Afternoon: Visit the colonial-era Christ Church with its beautiful stained-glass windows before heading back to Pipariya for your return journey.

Estimated Cost (2026)

  • Budget: ₹6,500 – ₹8,500 per person

  • Mid-Range: ₹9,000 – ₹12,000 per person

  • Luxury: ₹15,000+ per person (staying at MPT heritage properties like Champak Bungalow)

💡 Travel Tips

  • Gypsy Booking: Forest entry is restricted. Ensure your package includes the Forest Permit and a registered Gypsy, as private cars aren't allowed in core areas like Bee Falls or Dhoopgarh.

  • Best Time: October to March for pleasant weather; July to September for lush greenery (though some trails may be slippery).

  • Walking Gear: Pack sturdy walking shoes. Places like Bee Falls and Jatashankar require a bit of trekking and navigating uneven stairs.
